Do not be afraid; for see - I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. Luke 2:10 - 11 NRSV
Current Curriculum: Shepard's Notes Commentary Series
The Cornerstone class began in the summer of 2006, when a small group decided to study the Word of God in greater depth. We believe that the Word of God is the “cornerstone” of one’s faith. We consist of adults between the ages of 40-65. Our children are teens through young adults. Many in the class have grandchildren.
Members choose a book of the Bible (not in any particular order) to study in depth for several months. Our curriculum consists of: the Bible, the "Shepherd's Notes Commentary Series", references such as "Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary"and various maps, charts and handouts. We open each class with prayers and praises, announcements and devotions.
An email is sent to all class members during the week, sot that even those who were absent are able to keep up with what the class is doing.
Most class members are involved in various other church activities – United Mehtodist Men, United Methodist Women circles, choir, Disciple Bible studies, mission trips and youth activities. We support: the food closet, mission work, the coffee house, receptions, the NEST program, the soup kitchen, and youth programs, etc.
Since we are still a fairly new class, we have lots to learn about each other, our families, our lives and how we use the Bible in our “real world.” We have had a Christmas party and pool party and have plans for many other social activities. An important part of our class is the support that we offer each other!
If you are looking for a Sunday School class, visit us anytime in room 109, between 9:30-10:30 A.M. on Sunday mornings. We look forward to meeting you!
