My name is SueAnna Mirabelli and I am the Open Door Sunday School Teacher. My husband, John, and I started attending this class about 7 years ago. We were looking for a class where we both felt comfortable and would be able to grow spiritually. We were immediately embraced by all of the members of the class. We also felt like this was a class where we could ask questions and our personal growth was challenged.

Four years later, our class lost its teacher and I accepted the invitation to teach. I was already use to teaching 1st and 2nd graders but this was uncharted territory. Teaching Adults!!! Was this in God's plan for me??? Today, I can say “Yes.” I love this class and each individual that attends. We are all here for 1 reason: To learn more about the Bible and God's desire for each of our lives.

Every Sunday morning we start class by saying a prayer. We specifically pray that the Lord's words are spoken through me and not SueAnna on her own soapbox. Then, we go over our memory verses. It is important to memorize verses because in Psalm 119:11 the Bible says, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” We have learned a new verse for every year that I have taught. Take a look:

Year 1: “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bone.” Proverbs 16:24
Year 2:   “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5:16, 17 and 18
Year 3: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:24
Year 4: This year we are learning the Old Testament Books of the Bible in order:) We have learned Genesis thru Ezra! And, continually review the 10 commandments!!!!!

After reviewing our memory verses, we begin our Sunday School lesson. Then, we close with prayer praises and requests.

I would like to personally invite you to visit our Sunday School Class. No one is perfect and we all need to work on living our lives accordingly to God's standards. In order to do this, we must read and memorize the Word. If you are interested in learning more about God's Word and being challenged to live your life according to God's purpose, then this is a great class to join. But don't just take my word for it: Here's what some members had to say about the Open Door Sunday School Class:

  1. “I love this class-SueAnna is very upbeat. We read and discuss the scripture and encourage one another to apply it in our own lives. Good fellowship, too.” Liz Metts
  2. Cheryl said, “I think the name of our class says it all. When my husband and I first started coming to this church, it was through the invite of a friend. When we walked through the door of the Open Door Sunday School class, it felt like home. We are newer than others in our faith walk and not as knowledgeable in the Bible. Never once did anyone look down on us for what we didn't know, but instead, helped us explore what faith and the Bible did have to offer. My most touching moment was when my family joined the church. Pastor Danny asked if anyone wanted to come forward to stand with us and when I looked around, the ENTIRE class was with us. I had found my "faith" family and I knew that I was home. Our class ranges from the young to the more mature in age, but their hearts are all the same...giving, loving, and caring people. I look forward each week to joining them for our weekly study and feel like I have missed something when we aren't there.
  3. Good class. Deep thought about scriptures that will enrich your life. Fellowship with others also inspirational. Dr. Julian C. Metts, Jr.
  4. Judy and Dennis Marchant came to the class because they were told that the class was Biblically based and dealt with how they were to live in the World and yet still be God's people, not conformed to the world's way of doing things.

Our door is always “Open”. We would love to meet you and encourage you in your personal walk with the Lord. God loves you and so do we!
