Mission Opportunities
Great Bridge United Methodist participates in many outreach ministries we support annually. Looking for a way to get involved. Below are the mission opportunities were are participating in now. Check back here to see our current mission related events.
Baby-Care program at Chesapeake Health Dept. - This outreach opportunity is sponsored by the UMW Friendship Circle and supports new mothers & infants ages birth - 2 years.
Items needed: New or gently used boy clothing and items newborn to 18 months for their baby shower baskets. Items can be placed in the donation cabinet outside the church office. Thank you so much for your support. If you have any questions, email Ruth Wiles.
Get Smart - Needs several adults over 21 years of age to interact with the youth while they are at the YMCA from 4:15-5:30 p.m. Email Wendy Scott or by phone 410 - 4867, if you can help out occasionally on Tuesday afternoons.
Great Bridge Food Closet needs the following items: syrup, tea, Tuna, Chicken, and Hamburger Helper, pancake mix, jelly, tomato and chicken noodle soup, peas, corn, beans, canned fruit, spam, canned chicken, small flour and sugar. If you would like to support this mission items can be dropped of in the church office. The people of Chesapeake thank you.
Kits for Conference - The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) responds to natural disasters in all parts of the world by providing various kinds of kits- birthing, school, baby/layette, and health. Click here for a list of items needed or stop by the Welcome Center. All completed kits may be placed in the storage container located across from the church office. All Kits due in June.
Peanut Butter Drive - Change the World Sunday, May 20. Bring a jar of Peanut Butter to worship with you.
T-shirts for Missions - The missions committee is selling GBUMC T-shirts to raise funds to support mission trips. The cost of the T-shirt is $15 and is available and 28 colors. If you would like to order a T-Shirt email Janice Hawkins.
