Great Bridge Preschool and Kindergarten was opened in 1993. Our goal is to serve the demand for high quality education in a secure and caring environment. The school is monitored by the Virginia State Licensing Department and is fully licensed by the state. Great Bridge Preschool and Kindergarten also full accredited.
Hours and Schedule:
Class Hours: 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Come and Play: 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Stay & Play: 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Classes begin in September and end in May.
Holidays and vacations and other school closings generally follow the schedule of the public school system.
Summer camp is available for 6 weeks during June and July.
Classes:
TWO YEAR OLDS - The two year old program teaches children social skills and basic concepts during play, music, craft making and story time. Two year olds are not required to be potty trained.
THREE YEAR OLDS - Three year olds continue to explore their social skills with additional emphasis on appropriate classroom behavior. lessons on shapes, colors, numbers and the alphabet are presented through hands - on activities as well as through stories, music and playtime.
FOUR YEAR OLDS - Four year olds work on fine - tuning social classroom behavior and delve into lessons on the alphabet, numbers, science and social studies. They are introduced to phonics. Children continue to do their learning through hands on materials, worksheets, games, and field trips. These children have a solid foundation for kindergarten.
FOUR YEAR OLD PRE-KINDERGARTEN - Four year olds attend a five day program. By attending five days a week the children have an opportunity t study fundamentals in greater detail. Emphasis will be on phonics, math computations, science, social studies & computer skills. Field trips are planned throughout the year. These children are extremely well prepared for kindergarten.
KINDERGARTEN - Our Kindergarten addresses the need for small classes and better preparation for first grade. We put a strong emphasis on phonics, reading, writing, math (time, money & fractions), computer, social studies and art.
